In 2018, words like “suicide” and “depression” became very real when my 14 year old son Zachary Ryan Birkholz, took his own life.
Up to this point I hadn’t heard these topics talked about very often. I had to take a hard look at my life and analyze "what went wrong." Our family had overcome domestic violence and abuse. My children were victims of violence and sexual abuse and it played a major role on our mental health. Thus the birth of Marshmallow’s HOPE Nonprofit Organization. Our organization is here to raise awareness of these silent killers and the affects they are having on our youth today. We are spreading awareness so people know their lives matter and so that family members do not brush aside these thoughts and feelings. Hurting people need help and support.
Our goal is to let you know that your life matters. You were created on purpose and for a purpose. You are not at fault and are not alone. We are here to support you and your loved ones. If you’re walking in the same shoes as me, where you too have lost a loved one, we are here to support you through the difficult times. You don’t have to walk this journey alone.
